In 2019 Opera Australia (OA) announced the mounting of a new ‘digital’ production of Der Ring des Nibelungen in Brisbane for the following year, the first ever presentation of the tetralogy in Queensland. Twice deferred due to Covid, the staging was at last unveiled at the beginning of December. I attended the third cycle.
To mount the Ring in one go is rarely attempted outside Bayreuth, for good reasons.
