Katherine R. Syer, Review of Audi ‘Ring’ DVD

In a relatively short time, the release of several complete Rings on DVD has refreshed the broader public’s perspective on staging developments since Chéreau’s and Peduzzi’s iconoclastic 1976 Bayreuth production. The Amsterdam Ring directed by Pierre Audi began with performances of individual operas during the fall of 1997, building to complete cycles in June 1999, when the material for this DVD release was initially recorded for television broadcast.
