Pietari Inkinen’s path to conducting the Ring at Bayreuth has taken some pandemic-related twists and turns, and is now on track for three cycles of Valentin Schwarz’s production this summer.
The following material stems from a Zoom conversation between Pietari Inkinen and Katherine Syer in February of this year, in which Inkinen kindly participated from his home. The dialogue turned to Wagner with Syer’s query as to whether there were certain ‘aha’ moments in which Inkinen’s interest in the composer’s art began to crystallise.
