In early 2021, the University of Rochester Press will publish Chris Walton’s Richard Wagner's Essays on Conducting, which includes the first complete, unexpurgated translations into English of Richard Wagner’s writings on conducting since William Ashton Ellis’s multi-volume translation of his prose. We here publish Walton’s chapter on Wagner and Berlioz from the accompanying essay in his book.
