Cultural Feast – or Small Beer? Barry Emslie revisits the Stuttgart ‘Ring’

I am prejudiced about this Ring – prejudiced in its favour. And though my curiosity as to what I am about to write is even greater than your growing excitement as you begin to read it, I am bound to admit that I might not be able to hold on to my prejudices. But I shall try. Perhaps, therefore, one should come clean at the beginning and attempt to explain just why all pretence of conventional objectivity goes by the board in the case of the Stuttgart Ring.
