Lurking within every enthusiast is a completist: this will doubtless have been the lure for many attending performances at Leipzig’s Wagner 22 Festival, which staged all thirteen completed stage works in the space of a month, and for this reviewer the opportunity in particular to see the three ‘pre-canonical’ operas alongside one another was an irresistible draw.
